Spurs interested in Man Utd's Foster!!!

Spurs have been linked with numerous goalkeepers over the past year with Ben Foster just the latest in a long line, however after the tragic motorbike accident involving Carlo Cudicini it now looks more likely that Spurs will make a move for a goalkeeper in January.

Foster started the season as number 1 for Man Utd, due to the injury to Edwin van der Sar, but has now finds himself 3rd in the pecking order due to a number of mistakes. This won't make him first choice with the Spurs fans with resemblances to Paul Robinson very much still fresh in the mind.


Foster preformed very well when he was on loan at Watford and any time he was asked to deputise and he has made 4 appearances for England, but his demotion from no1 to 3rd choice at United is likely to rule him out of the World Cup next year unless he gets a move.

The fortunes of Foster do seem to resemble those of Robinson in some ways where he was very highly regarded but a number of mistakes saw him losing both his spot in the Spurs team and the England team. Robinson has since regrouped and looks back at his best for Blackburn and I don't doubt Foster will bounce back but at the moment that looks unlikely to be at Man Utd and I am not so sure Spurs would be the best move for him.

Spurs have started this season very well and obviously want to keep the momentum going, bringing in a goalkeeper who is low on confidence may not be the best move for either the team or the player. Saying that though there is no doubt that Foster has the potential to be a top keeper and if he was first pick at United he would cost considerably more than the £6 million being mentioned at the moment.

Spurs Spend £150 million on Transfers

Spurs have went through a complete rebuilding process of the team, and have spent £150 million in transfers over the last 16 months meaning that they have out spent the whole of the Premiership, including the top 4 of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, apart from big spending Manchester City.

Even with this huge financial outlay Spurs were still able to announce a pre-tax profit for the year ending in June 2009, largely due to the sale of Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov.

It is clear that this is a huge amount of money but Spurs have signed a lot of players for the money and strengthened key positions for the team including the strike force with Crouch and Defoe being two of the top strikers in the Premiership just now. Robbie Keane was also resigned for the club and although we have yet to see him at his best he is still a top player and one of the key players in a Spurs football shirt.

Spurs at the moment are reaping the rewards of their financial expenditure as they are currently sitting 4th in the Premiership and in line to get a Champions League spot but there is along way to go in the season yet.

After the announcement of pre-tax profits Daniel Levy not only showed his delight at the quality of players that Spurs have at the club but also on the future plans for the team. 

 “We have made significant progress in delivering on our long-term vision for the club.

“We have always had three key priorities and you will have heard them oft repeated – investment in the first team, a new training centre and an increased capacity, state-of-the-art new stadium.

“We have assembled what we believe to be one of the most talented squads we have had during our time in the Premier League, the ground is being turned and pitches laid for the new training centre at Bulls Cross in Enfield and we have submitted a planning application for a stunning new stadium on a site next to our existing stadium.”

Everything is looking bright at the moment and if we can maintain the form we have shown in the early part of the season then we will have Champions League football to look forward to next season.

Terry The Man! Chelsea beat Manchester United!

Chelsea captain John Terry's strike late in the second half ensured Chelsea remained unbeaten at home against Manchester United for last seven years in the Barclay's English Premier League! Lampard's free-kick was glanced home by John Terry in the 76th minute of the league game and provided Chelsea with the 1-0 lead that won them the game.

Despite a dominant play by the Reds, they were unable to create any real chance during the first half of the game. Chelsea however kept missing on the chances they were given. Didier Drogba, fouled by Wes Brown in the 27th minute gave Lampard a free-kick. But that was thumped straight into the Manchester United defensive wall. Moments later, Nicolas Anelka fired a shot from long range but Van der Saar dealt with it with ease.

Chelsea's Ivanovic was booked for a foul on Giggs in the 57th minute as the match began to speed up. Chelsea defender Carvalho managed to get his body in the way of the resulting free-kick denying Manchester United with a chance to take lead. Rooney got the best chance of the game in the 66th minute when he took a return pass from Valencia on the edge of the penalty area. But he wasn't able to fully utilize it sendind his shot wide of the goal post.

When Chelsea broke through with the lead in the 76th minute, it was ominous who was going to emerge as the winner. This win might not be the deciding factor on who will win the Premier League but it surely will go a long way in helping Chelsea get back the trophy that has been denied to them by Manchester United for three successive years now!

Chelsea v ManU Preview

When Chelsea host Manchester United in unarguably the most eagerly awaited match of the season, Carlo Ancelotti will be facing Sir Alex Fergusan for the first time since taking charge of the English Premier League side!

Ancelotti's success has been surprising given the fact that it is his first time in England, even though he has come here a few time before as well, including two victories over Manchester United with his side AC Milan.

But Ferguson insists the Italian's success comes as no surprise.

He said: "I thought Ancelotti would do well".

"He was a great coach at AC Milan. He won the European Cup twice and brought a wealth of experience with him to Chelsea".

"He was also a great player so he has a lot of knowledge. He brought a different system to the ones Chelsea have used in the past".

Manchester United have shown that they are a vulnerable side, with defeats against Burnley and Liverpool. Chelsea will be aware of the fact that Manchester United have stumbled their way to the second spot in the Premier League and are in no way on top of their game. Also, a dominating factor in the Blues' favour is that Manchester United have not beaten Chelsea at Chelsea since 2002!

It remains to be seen however who comes out on top when both sides meet later today! No team can underestimate the other and as it is a battle for the top spot, brace yourself for some quality football!

BALRAM CHANRAI GIVES PORTSMOUTH £15m LOAN!

English Premier League's Portsmouth Football Club has gone through difficult times with regards to their financial matters this summer. Since Alexandre Gaydamak's departure in August, the Premier League club has had two more owners.

The arrival of Al Faraj was intended to help Portsmouth become financially stable but rumours persist regarding the uncomfortable situation in the Premier League about the payments owed to other clubs. Premier League authorities have placed a transfer embargo on Portsmouth until they pay the pending payments to other Premier League clubs. The financial situation is so bad that even the playing stafff have had to cope up with delayed payment of their wages.

However, now enters the Hero, or the Saviour of the English club, BALRAM CHANRAI!

Portsmouth have received 15 million pounds as loan from the Hong Kong businessman Balram Chanrai. There is a lot of speculation that Balram Chanrai's investment will eventually lead to him becoming the new owner of the club. However, Al Faraj's lawyer Mark Jacob has insisted that this is not the case.

"It's a facility provided by a third party, that's all," he said.

"Like you or I would go to the bank and borrow money on our property or whatever."

There is no doubt that Balram Chanrai's investment has eased matters a bit at Portsmouth but it remains to be seen what effect this investment has in the long run. Balram Chanrai would never have given the money just to help Portsmouth. He must have seen some future interest in the club. Having said that, Al Faraj will also not let go off the Premiership side with ease. It remains to be seen how Portsmouth's future is decided by these financial barons of the world.

TOTTENHAM v ARSENAL, THE 11-SECOND DERBY!

Two goals within 11 seconds helped Arsenal overcome Tottenham Hotspur in the Tottenham v Arsenal English Premier League Fixture today. It was Van Persie and Fabregas that stunned their premiership opponents with a neat display of quality football. This '11 second' derby is another addition to Arsenal's great history that also includes the 'Five Minute Cup Final' and a victory at anfield famously secured in the 89th minute.

A relatively even first half exploded when in the 43rd minute, Van Persie hit the net from a low cross. 11 seconds later, straight from the kick-off, the dutchman won the ball and Fabregas, beating a couple of slumbering defenders, netted his 6th goal of the season.

Before the game, pundits were billing this game as the tightest north london derby for sometime. In the end, they were proved wrong, as now it will be called the '11 second' derby'!

When the last goal was scored in the 60th minute, which really was due to a bit of confusion between the players and the referee, the Arsenal fans took a sigh of relief and knew Tottenham simply could not come back from 3-0 down.

The last goal in itself was also dramatic. Mr Clattenburg had played the advantage but everybody was expecting play to be pulled back. Sagna reacted first, launching a low cross in for Van Persie to slot in off Ledley King.

At the end, the Arsenal fans joyously ran through the repertoire of songs as their team killed time by playing keep-ball. This proves Arsenal are still top dogs in North London and did them no harm in the Premier League title race either.

Portsmouth Banned From Signing New Players!

Premier League club Portsmouth has been banned from signing new players until all of the unpaid fees to other English clubs have been payed. Though the ban raises speculation about the club's financial situation, its spokesman Gary Double says that the situation ' should be resolved quickly'.

Ali Al Faraj, who holds 90% share in the Premier League club has also admitted that he is unfamiliar with football and plans to sell the club.

Portsmouth's new owner could well be from Israel(Levi Kushnir) or Hong Kong(Balram Chanrai).

King Jailed for 18 Months! ... Supporters Accuse Judge of Racism

English Premier League club Wigan Athletic's striker Marlon King was jailed for 18 months after being convicted of sexual assault and causing bodily harm to a woman in a night club.

The woman, a slightly build university student, rejected King's advances at the club. It is reported that the following dialogues took place at the night club when the woman rejected him:

King: "I'm just out of your league. I'm a miilionaire".

Woman: "I don't care who you are, take your multi-millions and get away from our table".

This little conversation infuriated King so much that he lost his temper and smashed her to the floor! His fist blow was so powerful the two revellers, one of them holding onto his arm, were also sent flying to the ground.

King claimed in court that it was a case of mistaken identity. But after hearing evidence from quite a number of eyewitnesses, the jury decided King was lying. It is a point worth noting that King has faced the judges 7 times since the age of 17, mainly for motoring offences and violence against women. After this incident, King would also be registered as a sex offender for seven years.

JUDGE ACCUSED OF RACISM!
As the sentence was read out to Marlon King, several of his supporters stormed out of the court, swearing at the judge. One, pointing at the judge, screamed: "This is a clear case of institutional racism. You should not be up there... Up the National Front. Heil Hitler." Another King supporter, referring to footballer Steven Gerrard, shouted: "Look at you. You are all white. Steven Gerrard is still walking the streets."

The Liverpool captain and England midfielder Steven Gerrard was cleared in July of attacking a businessman after a dispute over the music being played at a bar. Newcastle United's Joey Barton was jailed for six months in May 2008 after admitting to beating up a teenager.

Thus, Marlon King is the latest Premier League footballer to be jailed.

Liverpool beat Manchester United! Anfield Massacre Avoided!

It was the Liverpool side that emerged victorious here on 'Premier League Sunday' when two of the most decorated sides of the English Premier League met at the Anfield Satdium in Liverpool. Liverpool's Fernando Torres was the difference between Liverpool and Manchester United with his brilliant goal beating Manchester United goalkeeper Van Der Saar from a tight angle. Manchester United never recovered from that time on.

Prior to the game their were a lot of beach balls thrown into the ground as the fans were furious at Sunderland's Darren Bent's goal against Liverpool previously in the English Premier League. Even during the game the Stewards had to take care of the beach balls being thrown into the ground.



Liverpool looked the dominating side from the start while Manchester United remained subdued. Liverpool got good chances during the first twenty minutes but couldn't convert them to goals. They kept the pressure on United's goal till the half time which ended at a scoreline of 0-0.

After the interval, Fernando Torres struck in the 65th minute of the game beating Van Der Saar at the left goal post. That really spurred the Manchester United players up and from then on it was Manchester's United show with some flashes of brilliance from the Liverpool players as well. Anderson tried his luck from a tight angle but only managed to hit the crossbar.

At the 90th minute mark, the referee produced the first RED CARD of the game. Vidic was at the receiving end. Even Liverpool were reduced to ten men when Mascherano received his red card, But it was David Ngog who sealed the game for Liverpool with a very easy goal beating the Manchester United goalkeeper comfortably.

Beckham Turned Down Liverpool Offer!

As the close of Major League Soccer came near, David Beckham started looking for opportunities to get into a European side to boost his chances of playing in next year's FIFA World Cup. His first choice was the Italian club AC Milan. However, it is reported that Liverpool wanted to offer him a place in the team but Beckham refused to accept it!

He will return to AC Milan on loan and will try his level best to impress the England football coach Fabio Capello. Beckham's sadi LA Galaxy are currently at first place in MLS's Western Conference standings and have already qualified for a spot in the 2010 playoffs.

Liverpool's Beach-ball Drama... and Chelsea's Thrashing.

Liverpool's horror run of form continued on Saturday when they lost 1-0 to Sunderland in their English Premier League fixture. Sunderland went into the lead at the 5-min mark when Darren Bent's strike deflected off a beach ball(yes, a beach ball!) and beat the Liverpool goalkeeper. Despite repeated protests from the Liverpool players, the referee had no choice but to give Sunderland the goal. The fact that the colour of the beach ball was red and it must have therefore come from a Liverpool fan also would have hurt the players a lot.




The defeat was Liverpool's third in a row in all competitions. Without Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, Liverpool was not expected to play well, but no on e was expecting a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sunderland.

Despite some desperate efforts near the end of the game to earn a point, Liverpool were unable to do so and now seriously need to improve their football to have any chance of threatening Manchester United for the top Premier League spot.



Now if you are wondering why Manchester United and not Chelsea are at the top of the Premier League standings, then you need to know that Chelsea were given a good beating by Aston Villa resulting in a 2-1 scoreline in favour of the home team Aston Villa. Didier Drogba put Chelsea ahead in the 15th minute but two goals from setpieces by Richard Dunne(32nd min) and James Collins(52nd min) snatched the lead from the Blues and was enough to give Villa the win.

ManU now sit pretty at the top of the standings table of the English Premier League.

Chelsea say Manu have had enough!

Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Cech has said that chelsea have seen enough of manchester united lifting the trophy and now want to bring the coveted Premier League trophy back home to Stamford Bridge. Last time Chelsea lifted the Silverware was back in 2006 when they were crowned champions of the Premier League under Jose Mourinho.

Ever since Jose Mourinho has left Chelsea, they have struggled to play at the same level of competence in the Premier League as Manchester United have. Peter Cech, however, says it is this very fact that motivates us to play better than Manchester United and go on to lift the Premier League trophy.



Chelsea will play an away game to Aston Villa this weekend, and that team won't be an easy one to beat. But Peter Cech says the earlier defeat to Wigan won't be a regular feature for Chelsea this season and just like they came back strong against Liverpool, they can do the same again against Villa.

Chelsea will be boosted by the return of two of their star players namely Peter Cech and Joe Cole and if they get the three points they are looking for against Aston Villa, they surely will have a great advantage going forward in the English Premier League.

Robinson Plays down England Chances

Paul Robinson, the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper who earned an England national football team recall for the 2010 World Cup, says he wants to focus on continuing with his form at his football club and then see what happens to his chances of playing for England football team.

The 29 year old goalkeeper won his last cap in the European Championship qualifiers defeat against Russia back in 2007.

The official reason which has ruled Ben Foster out is a chest injury.



England coach Fabio Capello witnessed first hand Robinson's performance against Arsenal where he was beaten no less than 6 times! Not at all a good performance to show to your coach.

And why the hell does Capello go to these matches? He just brings in an unlucky charm. I hope we do manage an England 11 that represents England at the football World Cup in South Africa!

Italy and Spain...A better place for football than England!

The exodus of so many great players from the English Premier League does force one to believe that perhaps the English Premier League is not as appealing to world football stars as the football leagues of Spain and Italy. Despite the fact that that Premier League offer so much financial benefits and world-wide viewing as compared to other leagues, we have observed that more foreign stars have been found leaving the Premier League than joining. And whats more interesting is the fact that most of these players either opt for the football leagues in Italy, or Spain.

Here i look at some of the reasons why Premier League has been hit by the exodus of players like Ronaldo, Henry, van Nistelrroy and many others to the football clubs of Spain and Italy!



First of all, the style of football played in these two countries differs from that of the English. They provide players with much more time on the ball and matches and therefore feature more skillful moments.

Another reason for the preference given to Italy and Spain would be the fact that the foreign players are more comfortable in a Mediterranean climate than an English one.

Perhaps the players who are recognised worldwide do not like the media attention they get from playing in English Premier League. Most of the foreign players, especially the ones from Argentina and Brazil, are from humble backgrounds and the media attention really bothers them. Such media attention is not a problem in other leagues as they dont have much viewership but provide even a tougher atmosphere to hone your skills.

If you make a mistake in English Premier League, you'll have to bear the media bombardment for atleast a whole week. And that can really get to your nerves. People will always be babbling about the style of your game, or the lack of it.

The only thing perhaps that may bring in more foreign stars to the English Premier League is money. And believe me there is no dearth of it In the English Premier League. However, not everyone plays for money. And there are things even money can’t buy!

More Stars Leaving EPL than Joining!

When football fans around the world saw that three of the four semi-finalists in last Champions League were from England, they realized why English Premier League was regarded as, not ‘one’ of the best, but “THE BEST” in the world of football. Though the eventual champions were not one of those English teams, football fans around the world were left in no doubt as to which football league dominated the world of football.





English Premier League has been host to many football greats, both from within England and outside. Football stars from Brazil, Argentina, Italy, France, Spain and many other nations have graced the stage of English Premier League. More recently however, more foreign stars have been found leaving English Premier League than joining it. Here I look at the last few transfer windows and try to tell you how the exodus of the number of stars has exceeded the number of incoming stars into the English Premier League.

After the Italians lifted the football World Cup trophy, people were expecting quite a few number of World Cup stars to join the English Premier League for the huge revenue it offered. However, none of those Italian footballers eventually came to the Premier League. During the last few Premier League transfer windows, names such as Ronaldinho, Riquelme, Adriano, Villa and many others were tipped to come to England. Again the end result was that these players were not ready to leave Spain and Italy.


In 2006 Ruud van Nistelrooy, a success story with Manchester united switched to a mediterranean climate when he joined Real Madrid of Spain as the biggest signing of the transfer window. Along with Van Nistelrooy, Arjen Robben of Chelsea and Gabrielle Heinze of Manchester United also left the premier league for the Spanish city of Madrid for Real Madrid football club.

During this year’s transfer window, Christiano Ronaldo, probably the greatest striker Manchester united has ever produced, said ‘’bye bye’’ to English Premier League. Once again, his destination was not at all surprising, real Madrid of Spain

Thierry henry, at the peak of his game at arsenal, left the English Premier League for Barcelona. Henry however, does open the admit that were it not for the arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and a great platform for football like English Premier League, he would never have been the player he is today.

Michael Owen's WorldCup Chances Diminish After Injury

Imagine that you are a talented football player but struggling to retain your place in the national football team. You find out there is a football match coming up where you will be playing and the coach of the national football team will be watching you from the stands! What better opportunity can you ask for?

Well, you cannot ask for a better chance to impress the coach than that. The Manchester United striker Michael Owen had a similar chance the other night against Wolfsburg in Manchester United's champions league fixture. And though it was the best chance to impress the coach, Michael Owen had a disastrous time in the field. He was seen limping off the ground in front of Fabio Capello, the English National team's coach. This happened when Owen had been on the field for only 20 minutes.



Manchester United's coach Alex Fergusan blamed the wet surface for Owen's injury. He also revealed that that Michael Owen had suffered a slight groin injury after training for the UEFA champions league fixture on Sunday. He pointed out that even though these things happen to footballers and he was not really worried about it, the injury would still keep Owen out for two to three weeks. He will therefore miss Manchester United's English Premier League fixtures against Bolton and Sunderland

The most worrying part of the whole Owen episode is that Owen will be unable to take part in England's World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Belarus. Many fear this will mean that Owen might not become a part of Capello's plans for the World Cup in South Africa next summer.

This is not only frustrating for Michael Owen, but also for his fans who thought the striker would find his old flair after arriving at Manchester United's Old Trafford Stadium. The future doesn't look good for Michael Owen. The most frustrating part of this all is that Michael can only wait and see how his fate is decided.

Cheaters in Football-Top Five Cheats.

Football players are known for diving around the penalty area like fairies to get a penalty. Here, i have compiled the top 5 moments in football where players have used strange tactics to get a foul in their favour. Watch n Enjoy!



Here is one from the English Premier League. Steven Gerrard dives against Chelsea and receives a yellow card from the referee. Surely he could have pulled this stunt much cleaner than this! He is on number 5 in our Top 5 cheats in football.




Slap on Face for our number 4!




Gilardino intercepts a beautiful pass but falls down in the penalty area. The umpire was about to give him a penalty kick when he realised there was no player near Gilardino! He is on number 3.




Another one from the English Premier League. Lafferty is hit on his nose and is seriously injured!

You might have seen many unjust fouls in your life but none like this...This player has a strange quality, he has VENOM in his fingers! Yes folks, he really is a venomous footballer. Dont Believe me? Goalkeeper Moves Goal Posts! Literally!

Football fans around the world were stunned when they saw an unbelievable sight of a goalkeeper actually moving the goal posts to his advantage in the Swedish top football league. Kim Christensen, a Danish football player who plays for IFK Gothenburg, was seen on camera kicking the side posts to slightly reduce the target area at the start of a crucial Allsvenskan division match, the equivalent of English Premier League in England.



It took the referee about 20 minutes to realize the tampered goal posts. He then moved them to their correct position and continued the game, not realizing that it was a deliberate ploy by the Danish goalkeeper.

However, video footage at the start of the game clearly showed Christenen kicking the sideposts to change their position. After watching the clear video evidence against him, Christenen admitted that this was not the first time he had done this thing. He said he learnt the trick from a goalkeeping friend and since then has done it from time to time.

In Sweden, goal posts often rest on top of the playing surface and can easily be manipulated to any team's favour. Swedish Football Associatioin has been unable to find any rule pertaining to such an offense and its spokesman said that its disciplinary committee will raise the matter at its next meeting in October. He said moving the goal post is not a specific offence but the player could well face obstruction charges.

He also said:"Since this ia a very special case we cannot say at the moment what will happen. During an investigation, we can say that a player is not allowed to play, but so far he has not been suspended."

Adebayor Causes Controversy!

Emmanuel Adebayor of Manchester United caused controversy during the football game against Arsenal with his inflammatory goal celebration and stomp on former teammate Van Persie.

Adebayor had left Arsenal in July after being accused by Arsenal fans of a poor attitude and work rate. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was livid when Adebayor caught van persie's face with his boot during a sliding tackle from the Dutch footballer. He then ran the length of the field to celebrate his goal, causing Arsenal fans to hurl objects onto the field. One steward was knocked unconscious while controlling the outraged fans.



The Togo international has had a change in fortunes since making the switch from Arsenal. He has scored in all of Manchester City's first four wins in the Premier League this season. His last was probably the most satisfying for him and he did not shy away from showing his emotions.

English Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore was of the opinion that Adebayor had damaged football in general, implying that his actions were against the spirit of the game.

Talking to the Sun, Adebayor told reporters "I don't know what I have done wrong to get banned. I have not heard the police or FA want to talk to me. The club have not said anything" He justified his actions by saying "...these people have been insulting me all game".

However, things are not that straightforward and the FA is looking into the matter. A three match ban could well be on the cards for the striker. It would be interesting to see how Adebayor reacts if penalised by the FA.

Mr. Capello, Take One Million Now...and One When You Complete The Job - FA

Fabio Capello, the England football team's coach, was a happy man when FA announced he will be pocketing £1m after making sure the England team makes it to the trip to South Africa.
